Before-and-After Photos as Proof of Service on Commercial Pest Control Accounts

Most of what a pest tech does is invisible. Gel bait goes in a crack. A perimeter treatment dries on the foundation. A bait station gets checked and closed. The client sees a truck in the lot and a line on a statement. A photo turns that invisible work into something the manager can look at, and on commercial accounts, that matters a lot.

Photos Next to the Record

The written side of proof was covered in Chemical Application Records on Commercial Pest Control Accounts. The application record tells you what was applied. A photo shows what the tech saw.

In the PestBossPro tech app, techs take before-and-after photos from their phone during the stop. The photos stay with the job, next to the notes and the application record. When someone asks about a visit, the office has the whole thing in one place.

What to Photograph on a Commercial Stop

Not every square foot needs a photo. The useful ones fall into a few groups:

On a monthly account, it also helps to photograph the same trouble spot each visit from the same angle. Lined up in the service history, those photos show whether a problem is getting better or worse faster than any written note. The before-and-after pair is the strongest. A photo of a gap, then a photo of it sealed, shows the work in two pictures.

Photos Protect You

Commercial accounts sometimes go sideways. A restaurant gets a bad inspection and the owner looks for someone to blame. A tenant says nobody came. A warehouse manager says the rodent problem is getting worse and you are not doing anything.

Photos settle those conversations. If you have photos from the last three visits showing the same grease build-up behind the line, with notes that it was reported to the kitchen manager, the conversation shifts from what you did wrong to what the restaurant needs to fix. If a tenant says nobody came, a photo of the treated kitchen with the date on the job answers it.

Pair photos with honest notes. “Reported heavy grease behind fryer line to kitchen manager, photo attached” is much stronger than a photo with no explanation.

Photos Help the Manager

Photos are not only for defending yourself. They help the manager do their job. Most managers want pests gone, and many of the causes are things only they can fix: sanitation, door seals, storage practices, trash pickup.

A short text from the office with the findings, like “Tech found the gap under the back door is getting bigger. Photos saved with today's visit,” gives the manager something to act on. A manager who fixes the door because of your photo now has fewer pests, and gives you the credit.

The office can send that text through two-way texting, so it stays with the client. More on that in Two-Way Texting With Property Managers About Pest Control Visits.

Good Photo Habits

Photos and the Renewal

When a commercial account comes up for its yearly review, photos make the case for keeping you. A short walk through the year, like the gaps you sealed, the station problems you caught, and the conditions you reported, shows the manager the value they cannot see from the parking lot.

That kind of review is part of keeping accounts on the books, which gets its own guide in Keeping Commercial Pest Control Accounts Renewing Year After Year. To see how photos fit with the rest of commercial service, visit the PestBossPro commercial pest control software page.
